2016 Civic Leader of the Year Finalists

Since high school, Tim Weber, now vice president of pharmacy for Fruth Pharmacy, knew he wanted to be a pharmacist. At a local Kiwanis Club meeting, Weber met an independent pharmacist who touted the benefits of being in the field. “That was enough for me to consider and ultimately enter pharmacy,” he said.

GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS

I was able to move from staff pharmacist to a top-level director corporate position at Kmart in a span of around 10 years.

SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

I look to my 10-year-old son and my wife, who is also a pharmacist, to think of ways pharmacists can make a difference in the community for the benefit of public health.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

Don’t sweat the small stuff, and focus on the big picture. I set out to work as hard as I can to benefit my family, my team, and the profession.

VISION FOR PHARMACY

Pharmacists need to become more focused on the outcomes of therapy, troubleshooting adherence and adverse event issues, and the quality of the patient’s life.

As pharmacy manager/immunization lead at Walgreens, Monali Majmudar finds her work with patients rewarding each day, especially when she sees the difference she makes by contributing to their overall well-being.

GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS

By strongly recommending vaccinations to my patients, I have helped many of them get vaccinated. My pharmacy works closely with local physician assistant schools, public health schools, and area physicians to vaccinate patients in our community.

SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

My husband and boys are my greatest source of inspiration. Through experience with one of my son’s severe food allergies, I have been able to teach other parents how to best handle the associated challenges and live a normal life with their children.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

Life is like a camera: focus on what’s important, capture the good times, develop from the negative, and if things don’t work out, take another shot.

VISION FOR PHARMACY

My vision is for the pharmacist to become an integral part of the health care team by serving as a medication specialist to achieve optimal, desirable patient outcomes.

As vice president of Catonsville, Finksburg, and Paradise Professional Pharmacies, Dixie Leikach has worked hard to create a setting that encourages pharmacists to foster growth in the pharmacies and expand their role through patient care services.

GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS

The success of the 3 pharmacies I own with my husband, Neil, and the opportunity to serve in state and national pharmacy association leadership roles.

SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

Networking with other pharmacists who are at the forefront of advancing the pharmacy profession and are agents of change.

PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY

“If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you’re right!” — Mary Kay Ash

VISION FOR PHARMACY

Official recognition of pharmacists as health care providers so that we can be an integral part of the health care team and maximize patient health. Also, I’d like to see pharmacists become the most trusted professional in the annual Gallop poll.
