PocketPharmacist
PocketPharmacist is a drug information, interaction checker and medication organizer that pharmacists can recommend for patients’ iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. It features pharmacist-summarized drug information for 1530 common US medications, and the content grows each month.
PocketPharmacist has recently added MedCheck, which checks a patient’s medications and instantly alerts him or her about interactions, side effects, and precautions for 2 or more medications. Medications are listed by brand and generic names, allowing patients to find their medications more easily.
MedBox, the application’s medication organizer, allows patients to track their medications, allergies, medical conditions, physicians, and pharmacies.
PocketPharmacist has also recently integrated myDrugCosts, a software-as-a-service platform that helps inform patients about the costs of their prescription drugs. myDrugCosts uses health-plan-specific information to inform patients of the costs of their prescribed medications, providing them a resource for physician visits that can assist them in making cost-related medication choices.
The app’s Help section provides user assistance with video tutorials. The app’s search feature includes a history so patients can quickly and easily select medications they have used before.

Podmedics, the British company created to provide short audio or video medical tutorials, has launched an app allowing subscribers to stream the tutorials on WiFi or 3G and save the videos to an Phone or iPad. The app allows access to the Podmedics library of more than 160 video and audio clips, covering topics from medicine and surgery to various clinical specialties. Clips can be downloaded to the user’s device for viewing later. The app is free; however, access to the clips requires a paid subscription to Podmedics.

The monthly issues feature articles from Cochrane Systematic Reviews that have been abridged for iPad readers. Pharmacy Times’ annual supplement on OTC treatments has come to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, bringing content from the printed page to pharmacists' fingertips. The app includes the results of Pharmacy Times’ Survey of Pharmacists’ OTC Recommendations and is broken down into 14 condition categories covering key health issues. The app allows users to find the products Pharmacy Times’ readers most frequently recommend to their patients, and it is updated with survey results for 2013.
