Indication: Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals will launch an authorized generic of Actos under an agreement with Actos manufacturer Takeda Pharmaceuticals. Pioglitazone hydrochloride tablets are an oral antidiabetic medication that decreases insulin resistance. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise for the improvement of glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes. Thiazolidinediones, including pioglitazone hydrochloride tablets, carry a boxed warning against the risk of congestive heart failure in some patients.

It is for the management of severe schizophrenia in patients who have not responded to standard drug therapy. Because of the significant risk of agranulocytosis and seizures over time, patients in need of continued treatment with clozapine should be periodically reevaluated. It is contraindicated for patients with myeloproliferative disorders, uncontrolled epilepsy, paralytic ileus, or those with a history of drug-induced agranulocytosis or severe granulocytopenia.
