Kaiser Permanente Health Systems will implement Lexi-Comp's Knowledge Solution and Lexi-Comp Information Management System (LIMS) throughout its hospitals and clinics in California. The Kaiser network in California includes 29 hospitals.
The adoption of the Knowledge Solution, which includes LIMS, allows Kaiser to make real-time updates to its formulary and deliver them immediately to clinicians in their preferred electronic platform. The system also includes site license access to all of Lexi-Comp's content via Lexi-Comp ONLINE, ON-HAND, ON-WEB, and ON-DESKTOP. This content offers integration with computerized physician order entry, electronic medical records, medication administration records, and pharmacy information systems using an application program interface tool kit powered by Lexi-ON.
LIMS is a vital part of the Knowledge Solution, providing information managers with a series of precreated "tags" in extensible markup language that marks fields of information, paragraphs, spacing, fonts, logos, and characters. The management system allows health systems to recognize only those fields that are most germane to their clinicians on each platform, as well as allowing for full control of how those fields are ordered, labeled, and displayed. Individuals using the system also have the benefit and convenience of "sharing" fields within their formulary with Lexi-Comp's content. This translates to their formulary being automatically updated when Lexi-Comp's information is updated.
