Pharmacy Security Combo Pack Now Available

The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) has partnered with PRS Pharmacy Services to help community pharmacists prepare for the April 20, 2005, implementation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Security Rule. This rule involves the security and protection of electronic public health information. The organizations have developed the HIPAA Security Combo Pack #1, which includes the NCPA HIPAA Security Handbook and the PRS Security Compliance Program CD.

Tailored for community pharmacy, the NCPA HIPAA Security Handbook features information about required contingency plans in case of disasters, company risk assessment and management, and technical requirements for electronic systems. The PRS Security Compliance Program CD contains all the Security Rule Policies and Procedures that a community pharmacist needs to know in order to comply with this rule, in an easy-to-use and customized format. In addition, the CD provides step-by-step instructions on how to become compliant in the fastest time possible and includes a prewritten customizable Risk Analysis and Contingency Plan.
