Des Moines (Iowa) physician William Jagiello, DO, was the recipient of the third annual Patient Care Award presented by the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA). The award is cosponsored by the IPA and Eisai Laboratories to honor health care providers who better serve their patients by working cooperatively with pharmacists in the community.

Dr. Jagiello is a family practice physician at the Mercy Beaverdale Medical Clinic in Des Moines. He has worked to create innovative partnerships between physicians, pharmacists, other health care providers, and educational institutions. He also has brought together pharmacists and Drake University pharmacy students to improve the health care of his patients and the community.

In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Jagiello discussed how relationships are an integral part of his medical practice, recognizing the "very real benefits from collaborating closely with pharmacists and students as part of a health care team."
