University Launches On-Line Workshop

Stanford University Medical Center is testing the "Healthier Living with Arthritis" program?an on-line workshop for individuals with arthritis. The 6-week program will help individuals learn self-help skills. The participants will be monitored for 2 years to determine whether they learned any lasting skills for managing their arthritis.The program is geared toward adults with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or fibromyalgia. Topics covered include techniques to deal with pain, fatigue, frustration, and isolation; exercise for improving strength, flexibility, and endurance; and appropriate use of medication.
