An attempted armed robbery turned deadly at a Medicap Pharmacy on Thursday, October 6, when a pharmacist was injured in a shooting.

The incident took place around 10:50 am when gunmen began shooting at a pharmacy in Cheyenne, Wyoming, during an attempted robbery. According to the Cheyenne Police Department, the 3 suspects entered Medicap Pharmacy and began firing, hitting pharmacist Jackson Quick in the leg. Quick then returned fire, causing the suspects to flee.

The suspects were described as 3 black males. Two were wearing green clothing, 1 was wearing all black, and all 3 wore ski masks.

According to Quick, 2 of the shooters briefly took 2 pharmacy technicians hostage during the attempted robbery before fleeing the scene. After police arrived, Quick was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police later identified a white Ford SUV, which the suspects used as a getaway. The 3 men had hijacked the SUV earlier that day from a Platte County woman. Police scanner traffic suggested that the woman was held at gunpoint during the carjacking, and that the suspects traveled to Cheyenne, using the vehicle in connection to the Medicap Pharmacy shooting.

A similar incident occurred at the same Medicap Pharmacy in December 2014, in which a robber entered the pharmacy with a brandished gun and demanded prescription medication. Quick shot and wounded the attempted robber, who was later identified as Nathan D. Mundt, who recovered and was sentenced 8 to 16 years in prison for aggravated robbery.

Cheyenne Police believe the suspects are now on foot or driving a white Chevy Lumina, and are asking anyone who sees individuals matching the suspects’ description to call 911 immediately.
