A New York pharmacist is spending time in jail on charges of stealing roughly 7000 hydrocodone pills.

Police allege that Lorne J. Gay, 36, of Warsaw, New York, stole the pills from his pharmacy over a period of time, beginning in September, The Daily News reported.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) was tipped off by the pharmacy’s owner, who had become suspicious of Gay and the missing pills. The DEA then contacted local police to launch an investigation, according to The Daily News.

Gay was taken into custody on January 3, 2015, following an interview with police. The pharmacist will be charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $5000.

Police stated that Gay allegedly wanted the pills for his own use and did not intend to sell them to others.
