Oklahoma Pharmacist Arrested for Embezzling Oxycodone

Zachary David Curry has been accused of embezzling oxycodone from 2 pharmacy locations while working at Walgreens. His reasoning? He claims he needed the drugs because he “stands on his feet 10-12 hours a day while working.”
After being taken to a Tulsa jail, the 30-year-old pharmacist was released on a $2000 bond November 18, 2014, according to Tulsa World.
A Walgreens district manager had informed a Broken Arrow Police Department officer that 2 locations where Curry worked had a “discrepancy” in the amount of oxycodone stocked, according to Tulsa World.
The manager suspected that a pharmacist had committed theft of the drugs at the first location, so he had Curry transferred to a second Walgreens, which also saw a strange discrepancy in the amount of oxycodone stocked.
Curry admitted to the thefts, which took place over the last 9 months, but he claimed he never embezzled the drugs while at work and never sold them, according to his arrest report.
