Compounding Pharmacy Shuttered Following License Suspension

A pharmacist in Cleveland, Tennessee, has surrendered her license following an investigation into her compounding pharmacy’s use of potentially unsafe ingredients.

Robin Terrero, of the Wellness Store Compounding Pharmacy, was accused of using “outdated, deteriorated, or otherwise unsafe” ingredients to make eye drops and injectable drugs, according to the Times Free Press.

The now-closed pharmacy had its license suspended in September 2014.

State investigators accused Terrero of illegally dispensing forged prescriptions, having her staff falsify records, filing incorrect or misnumbered prescriptions, and leaving the pharmacy unattended for long periods of time while she traveled, according to Times Free Press.

Terrero did not admit guilt to any wrongdoing but said she surrendered her license and the pharmacy’s license “for the sole purpose of avoiding further administrative action” related to the case, the Times Free Press reported.

The compounding pharmacy supplied at least 9 clinics with injectable drugs since the beginning of 2014, and it may have also supplied injectable drugs directly to customers, the paper reported.

However, officials said in September 2014 that they had not heard of any complications related to the pharmacy’s drugs. State officials did notify the clinics “out of an abundance of caution,” the Times Free Press reported.
