Marketed by: Kirby Lester
Kirby Lester unveiled the KL1 compact tablet counter, the pharmacy automation provider’s smallest and most affordable tablet counter. Ideal for space-constrained pharmacies, the KL1 measures 6 in wide by 12 in high and weighs in at just 6 lb—a compact design inspired by feedback from the company’s 40,000 customers. It features Kirby Lester’s fast counting technology, which can count any oral solid at a rate of 15 to 18 tablets per second. The KL1 is also equipped with innovative features, such as inventory mode, which keeps count while the tray is being emptied, a partial pill and dessicant indicator to maintain filling integrity, and an ergonomically designed tray with left and right pouring.

Innovation introduced PharmASSIST OPTIx, an optical counting and imaging technology that allows pharmacies to automate the counting and processing of all medications and perform remote prescription verification. PharmASSIST OPTIx takes a high-resolution image of each prescription’s vial contents and label. Images are automatically displayed on a designated pharmacist’s workstation, which can be located anywhere—for example, in a counseling booth, offsite at another pharmacy, or even in a home office. To complete the verification, the pharmacist compares these images with the drug’s corresponding entry in a standardized database. In addition to countable medications, PharmASSIST OPTIx handles noncountable products, such as ointments, creams, liquids, syringes, and inhalers, for prescription filling and remote verification. The system can be used on its own or integrated with Innovation’s PharmASSIST Symphony work flow systems.
