Can You Read These Rxs?
Cori VanDevender, PharmD, and Carla McKinney, pharmacy technician, of CVS/pharmacy in Red Bay, Alabama, had difficulty trying to figure out this prescription. They were able to decipher the medication being prescribed after the patient said it was for back pain and thought it was for a muscle relaxer. The staff confirmed the prescription with the prescribing physician’s nurse. Do the clues the patient provided help you figure out this prescription?
Registered Pharmacist Katie Suh of Osco Pharmacy #7448 in Vernon, Connecticut, was handed this prescription on a busy Monday morning. Instead of spending time trying to decipher what medication was being ordered, Suh placed a call to the prescribing physician's office for verification. Do you know what the physician told her?
ANSWERS
Rx 1: Lexapro 10 mg, #30, 1 tablet daily. ANSWER: Robaxin 500 mg, #90, 1 tablet 3 times a day prn for muscle spasms.
Rx 2: Lexapro 10 mg, #30, 1 tablet daily.
