MAY 01, 2007

Tony Civello, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Kerr Drug, has a new title—Health Care Hero. Civello received the recognition from the Triangle Business Journal for his contributions to the quality of health care in the community. The journal said that Civello has "demonstrated leadership in the drug store industry and strives to be proactive, rather than reactive, believing that chain drug retailing is all about health care."

"It is a true honor to be named one of the Health Care Heroes for North Carolina,"commented Civello. "But this award also recognizes the efforts of the entire team of Kerr Drug professionals who all strive to provide the highest quality of health care."Civello, who got his start in chain drug retailing at Thrift Drug in 1965, has spent the last 2 years chairing the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
