Free Cookbook for Patients with Diabetes

?Diabetic Meals in 30 Minutes or Less? by Robyn Webb is available free of charge. The cookbook includes more than 140 recipes as well as information about the link between type 2 diabetes and heart disease. It is an outgrowth of a campaign called ?Take Diabetes to Heart,? spearheaded by the American Association of Diabetes Educators and the Association of Black Cardiologists.

Actress Phylicia Rashad, best known as Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show, is the spokeswoman for the campaign. The 2-time Emmy Award nominee says, ?My father, who had diabetes, died of a heart attack. When I read his death certificate, I learned that the root cause of the heart attack was diabetes. . . . So few people with diabetes realize how strongly these diseases are linked, and the importance of working with their health care team to actively and effectively manage their type 2 diabetes.? The cookbook can be obtained by calling 800-307-7113 or by visiting the Web site www.takediabetestoheart.com.
