Beiersdorf manufactures a specific cholesterol for use in Aquaphor that the company uses for manufacturing but does not market. Hence, any attempt at duplication is not possible. Furthermore, duplication of a commercially available drug product by a compounding pharmacist, except under very specific conditions, may violate patent rights as well as FDA regulations. There are a number of companies that manufacture products similar to Aquaphor. Gallipot Inc and Paddock Laboratories Inc are 2 examples.
