I think the biggest points that I can make about dealing with ethical dilemmas around this opioid substance abuse problem is for pharmacists to try to keep those lines of communications open. If your health system has evidence that treatment program for opioid abuse is working, share that. Share that with everybody who will listen. Share it with patients, share it with patient advocacy groups, share it certainly with your state’s board of pharmacy, share it with your legislators.
