The Baker Co (Sanford, Me) recently introduced a smaller, 2-glove position model of the ChemoSHIELD Barrier Isolator that offers a contained, negativepressure work area suitable for chemotherapy agents or intravenous admixtures that can be harmful to pharmacy personnel. The 5-ft-wide ChemoSHIELD Model CS500 features an ergonomic design that includes a slanted view screen angled at 10° with a top hinge to allow full opening for loading of pharmacy equipment, oval glove ports (with 2 glove positions) to offer maximum reach to all interior surfaces for employees of different heights, and negative-pressure interchange to permit secure passthrough in and out of the work area. The product is also designed to comply with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's call for cabinets used to prepare chemotherapy drugs to be exhausted to the outdoors because of the risk of vaporization of hazardous drugs.
