Visual Diagnostic Tool Improves Patient Care

Thomson Micromedex has partnered with Logical Images to provide hospitals and health care organizations with access to VisualDx—a point-of-care clinical decision support software system for visual diagnosis. The system is an easy-to-use visual differential diagnostic tool that reduces the risk for medical errors concerning conditions with visual signs and symptoms.VisualDx is used at the point of care for a more accurate diagnosis. The result is faster and enhanced treatment decisions and improved clinical outcomes.

Prior to VisualDx, primary care and emergency physicians had to know the name of the diagnosis in order to access photographs, symptomatology, and treatment information, using textbooks and Web-based atlases. Now, clinicians simply enter a patient's symptoms and compare what they are seeing with the symptoms' images and data on each disease, similar to those found in reference books and other information guides.
