Thomson Micromedex's InfoButton Access is fully operational at Partners HealthCare (Boston, Mass), one of the initial facilities to test the solution. InfoButton Access delivers clinical reference information directly to any electronic medical record, computerized physician order entry, or other health information system applications.

"Nurses, doctors, and pharmacists agree that more information leads to better care, and it is important to have access to the right information at the right time and right place. Now, by providing our clinicians with quick access to carefully curated, structured knowledge via InfoButton Access, we have impacted their ability to seek critical information and confirm best treatment practices, which is ultimately what health care is all about," said Saverio Maviglia, MD, of Partners HealthCare.

Partners HealthCare completed its final testing and certification in April 2005 and has made InfoButton Access available throughout all of its facilities. Initial statistics show that nurses, physicians, and pharmacists are using the application about 400 times a day. InfoButton Access improves clinical decisions by allowing quick and easy access to Micromedex drug, disease, and patient information, along with the ability to link to detailed clinical references. The application currently offers access to 2 clinical reference databases, DrugPoints System and Disease Information Briefs, and 2 patient education databases, CareNotes System and DrugNotes Systems.
