WHO Report Identifies Priority Areas for HIV Pharmacy Research

JULY 25, 2017
HIV drug resistance poses a global  threat, and research into new medicines, particularly those that are tailored to adolescents and children, are needed, according to a report released this week by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International AIDS Society (IAS). The  9th IAS Conference on HIV Science is being held this week in Paris, France.

In the video below, WHO officials note that " not everyone is taking their [HIV] medication regularly, allowing HIV to become resistant to the most effective and affordable medicines."

A WHO 2017 report on drug resistance notes that the rate of resistance is more than 10% in 6 of 11 countries surveyed.
