Report: Baby Cured of HIV

MARCH 15, 2013
A team of researchers reported on March 3, 2013, that a 26-month-old child born infected with HIV was cured of the virus after aggressive treatment with antiretroviral drugs beginning approximately 30 hours after birth.

This is just the second well-documented report of a cured HIV infection, and if the approach works for other newborns, it is likely to be put into widespread practice.
