Student, University of the Incarnate Word, Feik School of Pharmacy

Selma, TX

Ryan Lampien is a student at the University of the Incarnate Word’s Feik School of Pharmacy and a former pharmacy technician in the Army. During his service, Ryan “expanded the role of the pharmacy technician by successfully integrating technicians into the trauma teams through the utilization of pharmacy technicians on ‘Code Blue’ teams,” his nominator wrote.

Greatest Achievements

I experienced a student’s gratitude and sincere appreciation for my efforts in helping pharmacy technicians succeed in the training program.

Source of Inspiration

The mentors that helped me shape my goals and supported me. They also told me things that I did not necessarily want to hear.

Personal Philosophy

If you work hard, treat others with respect, take personal accountability, have a positive attitude, and have a strong work ethic, then you can achieve anything that you set your mind to.

Vision for Pharmacy

All roles within the pharmacy will be expanded. Pharmacists will be stepping up to make more direct patient care decisions to improve patient outcomes, and pharmacy technicians will have their roles in the distribution process expanded to also support patient outcomes.

Student, Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Des Moines, IA

Natalie Roy is a student at the Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Natalie’s “high ethical standards have led to several efforts that have helped patients and other health care providers understand pharmacists’ value,” her nominator wrote.

Greatest Achievements

Serving as executive intern at the Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) and receiving the IPA Karbeling Leadership Award. Additionally, I cofounded a new interprofessional organization of PharmD students from Drake University and Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine students from Des Moines University.

Source of Inspiration

Countless pharmacy leaders have taught me to challenge myself and reflect on the importance of this profession. Above all, my patients provide me with the greatest inspiration.

Personal Philosophy

I seek to improve the well-being of patients and others in my life. I seek to live my life with integrity and tenacity.

Vision for Pharmacy

Pharmacy is more than a career, more than a business, more than even a segment of health care. I believe that pharmacy can impact the lives of the people we serve when we work together as a team and for the betterment of all.

Student, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Gregory School of Pharmacy

Lake Park, FL

Jordan Wulz is a student at the Palm Beach Atlantic University Gregory School of Pharmacy. According to his nominator, Jordan “takes a holistic approach to patient care, seeking to care for the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of his patients.”

Greatest Achievements

Being named the most outstanding graduate of my pharmacy class at Palm Beach Atlantic University, as well as being accepted into a PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Samford University.

Source of Inspiration

My source of inspiration is Jesus Christ. The example he gave on how to love people can be commended by all. I hope to embody his being as a practicing pharmacist.

Personal Philosophy

I believe that everyone needs to be “heard” before they can be “told.” It is important that patients feel they are understood first before any health recommendations can be taken seriously.

Vision for Pharmacy

I wish to see pharmacists working in conjunction with general practitioners in an ambulatory-care setting to improve the care of patients in between their regularly scheduled physician appointments.
