Health App Wrap

MeDSnap ID
MedSnap ID allows pharmacists to identify patient medications in seconds, simply by using the iPhone’s on-board camera and a proprietary Snap Surface, allowing them to save valuable time during Brown Bag or Medication Therapy Management sessions.

The app visually identifies more than 3000 US prescription pills, including brand name and generic medications, with updates to each added weekly. It includes more than 2000 drug monographs and features drug–drug interaction alerts and drug–disease interaction alerts.

The app records a history of each snap and allows users to add custom notes, patient insights, and photos to each snap. Snap history can also been accessed through the MedSnap ID portal.

The app is password protected for privacy and security, and an additional security option prevents data from snaps from being stored on the phone.

The app offers unlimited snaps and does not require Internet connection, cellular signals, or WiFi.

Although the app is free, it requires a subscription to MedSnap ID for $7 per month or $70 per year. Snap surfaces are available in 2 sizes: 1 made to fit in a coat pocket ($20 for a pack of 2), and a premium tray with a durable cover ($30). All Snap surfaces are water and alcohol proof and can be disinfected by wiping with an alcohol swab.
Cost: Free; however, the app requires a subscription and the manufacturer’s MedSnap Surface
