Parata Max, Mini Adapt
to Pharmacy Workflow
Parata Systems (Durham, NC) recently
launched the
Parata Max and
Parata
Mini—the first and only next-generation
pharmacy automation systems, which
operate with far greater autonomy to
make them simple for pharmacies to
learn, use, and maintain. The Parata
Max significantly reduces staff support
requirements and holds up to 232 finished
prescriptions. Furthermore, Parata
increased cell capacity by 30% to
reduce replenishment frequency and
support the pharmacy industry's move
toward bigger pills and bigger fills. The
Parata Mini, a semi-automated version
of the same core technology, eliminates
cell exchanges, making it easy for even
start-up pharmacies to open their doors
with automation. It automates counting
for a pharmacy's top 49 movers, typically
about 30% of its total prescription
volume. Parata's Tom Rhoads, executive
vice president, customer and market
strategies, said, "When you think about
first generation [automation] it requires
users to adapt. With next generation,
it adapts to the user." For more information,

OnSiteRx Improves
Nursing Home Patient Care
Provider Business
Solutions Inc's (Sunnyvale,
TX)
OnSiteRx
system combines
an automated drugdispensing
machine
with Web-based software
that allows
pharmacists, physicians,
and nurses to
order prescriptions,
check for side effects, and deliver medications
to nursing home residents. The
system holds 240 of the most common
medications for nursing home residents.
The OnSiteRx system dispenses each
resident's drugs, seals them in plastic,
and prints the patient's name and
prescription information on the packet.
Once a physician signs onto a Web site
and orders a medication, the system
reviews the medication for side effects
and checks whether it is covered by a
resident's insurance. The prescription is
then sent over the Web to a pharmacist,
who approves it for dispensing. For more

eGain Notify Adds
Proactive Service to Offerings
eGain's (Mountain View, CA)
eGain
OnDemand, the hosted version of eGain
Service suite, was recently implemented
by one of the nation?s largest prescription
management and pharmaceutical
services companies. The company is
starting with eGain Notify for outbound
one-on-one notifications through secure
e-mail, short message service, and voice.
Prescription and related services often
involve multiple steps that are triggered
by the passage of time as well as the
progression of tasks relating to a specific
customer service transaction such
as a drug refill. If participants are not
notified proactively about the status of
their transactions, they contact the customer
service organization. This drives
up customer frustration and service
costs for the business. The eGain Notify
functionality includes one-on-one service
alerts on topics such as the status
of orders, issues with orders, upcoming
prescription refills, and impending
prescription expiration. The on-demand
version of eGain Notify integrates with
existing order management, customer
data management, and voice communication
systems to provide personalized
and contextual one-on-one alerts. For
more information, visit
www.egain.com,
or call 800-821-4358.
