MEDICARE PATIENTS FORCED TO LIMP ALONG WITHOUT VIAGRA

Author:

Seniors and other American men covered by Medicare will no longer receive Medicare coverage for erectile dysfunction drugs to improve sexual performance.

The new reimbursement restrictions, which took effect on January 1, exclude coverage for Viagra (sildenafil citrate), Cialis (tadalafil), or Levitra (vardenafil HCl), unless they are prescribed for conditions unrelated to sexual performance. Estimates by the Congressional Budget Office suggest that the new Medicare restrictions could save as much as $2 billion by 2015.
