The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) plans to solicit grant applications this summer for a new electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) program for pharmacists, physicians, and other health care providers. The monies will help fund the purchase of technology or services necessary to initiate e-prescribing. Health care providers will thus be able to securely submit prescriptions, refill authorizations, and other pharmaceutical information to pharmacies.
Physicians are encouraged to partner with members of other practice groups and with clinics, hospitals, health plans, or other organizations in their communities. The grants will be given to physician partnerships that collectively invest in e-prescribing technology in up to 4 Kentucky communities. The grants will match up to $90,000 of those investments, according to the CHFS.
