OnCallData Integration Is Available

Author:

NDCHealth Corp and InstantDx are working together to launch the next generation of electronic prescribing (e-prescribing) services to physician practices across the United States. NDCHealth—manufacturers of the physician practice management solutions Medisoft, Lytec, and Concept—and InstantDX—developer of the e-prescribing system OnCallData—are offering health care providers the OnCallData System. The system is integrated directly into NDCHealth's management solutions.

A unique aspect of the OnCallData system is that it does not cause a disruption to physician work flow. Health care providers get an e-prescribing module already incorporated with their practice management solution. The integration provides a single sign-on, allowing the physician or staff member to access OnCallData without having to log off of one system and onto another. Patient demographic information automatically populates the e-prescribing application, allowing for fewer keystrokes and eliminating potential typographical errors.

"Real-time, single sign-on integration between the physician's practice management system and the e-prescribing system is an essential, yet all-too-often missing ingredient necessary to accelerate the adoption of e-prescribing," said Allan M.Weinstein, MD, chairman and chief executive officer of InstantDx.

Another plus of the OnCallData System is that it allows for real-time e-prescribing rather than "batching." With real-time e-prescribing, physicians can verify drug and allergy interactions, patient eligibility, medication history, and formularies right at the point of care. The real-time connectivity also allows bidirectional electronic communication between providers and the patient's pharmacy, significantly reducing time-consuming phone calls and faxes necessary for checking new prescriptions and authorizing refills.
