Author:

The International Longevity Center- USA's Health Care Task Force has released "Redesigning Health Care for an Older America: Seven Guiding Principles" policy report. The International Longevity Center-USA assembled the task force. As a task force, its directive is to develop an intergenerational lifespan perspective of disease prevention and health maintenance built on a strong foundation of reform. Their main goal is to counter the myth that longevity is the culprit for the rising costs of medical care.

The 7 guiding principles include universal health insurance, improved training in geriatric medicine, increased investments in aging research, and clinical autonomy within evidence-based medicine is crucial to the best of care. "As people live longer, they will have to work longer. Greater stress must be placed on providing for a well-educated, healthy, vigorous population throughout life including in the seventh and eighth decades," said task force member Michael Gusmano, PhD.
