Exercise Away Hypertension

Hand exercises may be a solution to lowering hypertension. A Canadian study involved participants doing the contractions 3 times a week for 8 weeks.

The purpose of the study was to determine whether the flexibility of arteries and the function of blood vessels were issues in lowering blood pressure in patients taking antihypertensive medication. After the 8 weeks of hand contractions, the participants' blood pressure decreased significantly, while the arteries' capacity to dilate increased.
