Report Cautions Use of Home Testing Kits

A recent article in Johns Hopkins University?s Health After 50 Medical Letter said home cholesterol testing kits can give inaccurate and incomplete results. In an examination of 5 popular home cholesterol tests, the researchers discovered that 2 were inaccurate, 2 gave inadequate information, and all required a substantial blood sample. The article recommends that patients not allow home testing kits to replace having their cholesterol tested by their physician.
