Single-dose Oral Analgesics for Acute Postoperative Pain


Andrew Moore, DSc, of the University of Oxford, provides an overview of a study published in the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews that compared single doses of oral analgesics for acute pain in adults post-operation. The study, which was the culmination of a project tackling the research on a large series of pain relieving drugs, found that commonly used analgesic drugs at the recommended doses produce adequate pain relief in some—but not all—patients with pain.
