Glaucoma typically develops slowly, but this Mayo Clinic podcast discusses a rapidly developing variant of the condition called acute closed angle glaucoma. Mayo Clinic ophthalmologist Arthur Sit, MD, explains the symptoms associated with it, including sudden reduction in vision. The condition’s quick onset, he explains, prompts many patients to go to the emergency department. Treating the disease promptly with medication or surgery is imperative, he adds.
