New research sponsored by the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) touts the benefits
of retail clinics in helping improve employee
health while cutting health care costs.
Although the traditional health care delivery system
has been effective at handling complex cases,
retail clinics may be better suited to the well-organized
delivery of preventive care that patients need
more regularly to maintain their health and well-being.
Bradley Perkins, chief strategy and innovation officer for the CDC, said that preventive
measures such as smoking cessation, adult immunization, and screening for
chronic conditions were all deemed to have cost-saving benefits.
