AmerisourceBergen is showing its support for the Coalition
for Community Pharmacy Action (CCPA) by assisting in the
group's activities.
"AmerisourceBergen understands the crucial role that the
community pharmacist plays in the health care delivery system
in the United States. Noncompliance studies document
that simply prescribing and dispensing the right medication
is not enough. Patients need help managing and adhering to
their drug regimens, and nobody does it better than the community
pharmacist," said Dave Neu, senior vice president,
retail sales and marketing for the company.
Recent measures by the federal government have pressured
community pharmacy. The company's backing will help CCPA in
its work to ensure that patients will continue to be served by
community pharmacists,
coalition officials said.
CCPA is an alliance
between the National
Association of Chain
Drug Stores (NACDS) and
the National Community
Pharmacists Association
(NCPA), which together
represent more than
55,000 community pharmacies. CCPA leverages the support,
effort, and infrastructure of NACDS and NCPA while engaging
community pharmacy to participate in and advocate on issues
affecting the industry.
