Walgreens has started a new health education program to help its consumers
sift through and find health services and discounts. The goal of the
campaign is to reach consumers where they seek information: in the
stores, on-line, and in the community. Walgreens is currently working
with the American Library Association and the US Department of Health
and Human Services to provide Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
educational materials on the new Medicare drug discount cards to
consumers at all of the nation's 16,400 libraries.
Walgreens also is encouraging Medicare-eligible consumers to visit
their pharmacist and learn about the Medicare drug discount cards. Pharmacists
can help consumers decide whether they will benefit from the program
and help them find a drug discount card that best meets their needs.
