Publix Super Markets' prescription
drug program is a hit.The company
recently filled its 1 millionth
free oral antibiotic prescription and
added doxycycline hyclate (capsules)
to the program.
Launched in August 2007, Publix's
free prescription-drug program
included amoxicillin, cephalexin,
sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim
(SMZ-TMP), ciprofloxacin (excluding
ciprofloxacin XR), penicillin VK, ampicillin, and erythromycin
(excluding Ery-Tab) at all of its Publix Pharmacies. The free antibiotics
are offered to patients regardless of their prescription
provider.
"Filling our millionth prescription under our free prescription
drug program is a milestone we're proud to accomplish. Our
customers and the medical community have been very pleased
with the program," said Maria Brous, Publix media and community
relations director. "Adding doxycycline hyclate capsules to
the program will help meet the health and wellness needs of
even more of our customers and associates."
