PUBLIX PHARMACIES REACHES MILESTONE

Publix Super Markets' prescription drug program is a hit.The company recently filled its 1 millionth free oral antibiotic prescription and added doxycycline hyclate (capsules) to the program.

Launched in August 2007, Publix's free prescription-drug program included amoxicillin, cephalexin, sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (SMZ-TMP), ciprofloxacin (excluding ciprofloxacin XR), penicillin VK, ampicillin, and erythromycin (excluding Ery-Tab) at all of its Publix Pharmacies.The free antibiotics are offered to patients regardless of their prescription provider.

"Filling our millionth prescription under our free prescription drug program is a milestone we're proud to accomplish. Our customers and the medical community have been very pleased with the program," said Maria Brous, Publix media and community relations director. "Adding doxycycline hyclate capsules to the program will help meet the health and wellness needs of even more of our customers and associates."
