As part of American Pharmacist Month, Pharmacy Times is asking experts what they believe the value of the pharmacist is. Tripp Logan, PharmD, Vice President at SEMO Rx Pharmacies and Logan & Seiler Inc, discusses

Tripp Logan: So in the local community, a lot of times the community pharmacist is the front door to health care, and so whether, the community pharmacy is open on weekends, not open on weekends, their doors are open most days of the of the year. There's a clinician, a pharmacist, standing there in the pharmacy that can help the community, and if we can use that tool, and have that access to a pharmacist to get people, not only in the front door of health care, and a lot of people don't go to the doctor, they need to be screened for chronic conditions.

There's a lot of things that need to be done, but they just don't know where to go and using pharmacists and pharmacy to be the front door to health care to get people into the system and improve their outcomes and ensure that their life has a healthy life. If that's something that we, as pharmacists, can contribute, I think we've fulfilled our mission.
